Please note that registration locations are different each day due to park scheduling. Both are conveniently located near parking and restrooms.

This month’s Folksmarch offers the best of both worlds—beautiful park scenery and a charming small village.
Choose to explore:
- The walking paths throughout Marcellus Park
- The Village of Marcellus
- Or enjoy both during your visit!
The park features open green spaces, picnic areas, a playground, and peaceful walking paths, while the village offers historic character and a welcoming small-town atmosphere.
🌳 About Marcellus
Marcellus is located in southwestern Onondaga County and has been welcoming residents since the late 1700s. The town sits within the former Central New York Military Tract and was originally part of the lands of the Onondaga Nation.
The community also gave its name to the Marcellus Formation, a vast geological layer that stretches across several states and into Canada and has become well known in discussions about natural gas development.
☀️ Summer Walking Tips
August is a wonderful time to enjoy the outdoors, but remember to come prepared.
We recommend:
- Bringing a water bottle
- Wearing comfortable walking shoes
- Using sunscreen
- Applying insect repellent
- Performing a tick check after your walk, especially if you’ve spent time in grassy or wooded areas.
