Join CNY Folksmarch this July as we head to the north shore of Oneida Lake for a summer walk in the Village of Constantia!

Walkers may arrive anytime during event hours to register and walk at their own pace.

Parking is available in three locations:
- Immediately before the hatchery building
- Immediately after the hatchery building
- Across Hatchery Road, just beyond the building
The hatchery is located just off State Route 49 on the banks of Scriba Creek.
🚶 About the Walk
This month’s route combines nature, small-town charm, and local history.
Walkers will enjoy:
- A visit to the Oneida Fish Cultural Station
- A section along quiet country roads
- A scenic walk on the Oswego Rail Trail
- A return through the Village of Constantia, passing Buckingham Market and several historic churches.
Walk at your own pace and enjoy exploring one of the communities along the north shore of Oneida Lake.
🎣 About the Hatchery
The Oneida Fish Cultural Station plays an important role in fisheries conservation throughout New York State.
The hatchery focuses primarily on raising walleye, collecting 200–300 million eggs from Oneida Lake each year and stocking millions of fry. It also raises the state’s supply of tiger muskellunge and helps conserve rare fish species, producing approximately 6,000 pounds of fish annually.
Visitors can explore educational displays inside the hatchery to learn more about fish culture and aquatic conservation.
🌿 About Constantia
Located in Oswego County on the north shore of Oneida Lake, Constantia is a historic community first settled in the late 1700s. Today it offers a peaceful setting with lake access, Scriba Creek, the Oswego Rail Trail, and welcoming village streets to explore.
