🚶 About the Walk
This month’s walk offers a variety of trail options through wetlands, marshes, meadows, and forest habitat.
Walkers may choose from:
- North Marsh Trail – a fairly level, open trail around the marsh
- South Marsh Trail – another easy-to-moderate route with excellent wildlife viewing opportunities
- Forest Trail – a more varied route that includes meadow areas and some steeper terrain
The marsh trails are mowed grass paths rather than stone dust or paved surfaces. Depending on recent weather, you may wish to wear appropriate footwear and bring insect repellent.
🐦 Birders may want to bring binoculars!

🌿 About Montezuma Audubon Center
The Montezuma Audubon Center is part of the larger Montezuma Wetlands Complex, a 50,000-acre network of wetlands that provides critical habitat for migrating birds, waterfowl, shorebirds, and other wildlife.
Located along the Atlantic Flyway, the Montezuma area is one of the busiest bird migration corridors in North America. More than 240 species of birds have been documented within the refuge, along with dozens of mammals, reptiles, and amphibians.
The Audubon Center features educational exhibits, a small gift shop, and information about the many outdoor recreation opportunities throughout the Montezuma Wetlands Complex.
💡 Can’t Make It on Saturday?
If you’re one of our regular Sunday walkers and cannot attend on June 13, you may visit the Audubon Center on your own during the month of June. Pick up a trail map at the Center, record the date of your visit, and bring that information to a future Folksmarch event to receive your stamp and credit.
